Operacja Coffee – piec osób aresztowanych podczas operacji policji w Portsmouth
Podczas środowej operacji w Portsmouth, policji udało się przejąć tysiące porcji narkotyków klasy A oraz aresztować pięć osób. W środę 18 sierpnia, około godz.23.30 oficerowie z Portsmouth’s Drug Investigation Team przeszukali posiadłość na Magdala Road, Cosham. Zarekwirowali heroinę i kokainę o szacowanej wartości około £3,500. Trzy osoby zostały aresztowane:
- Dwaj mężczyźni w wieku 31 i 29 lat podejrzani o dystrybucję narkotyków klasy A
- 17-letnia kobieta za posiadanie z zamiarem dostarczania
W ramach tej samej operacji, i mniej więcej w tym samym czasie, oficerowie z Targeted Patrol Team zatrzymali i przeszukali samochód podążający w kierunku północnym na A3 w Horndean.
28-letni mężczyzna z Essex i 27-letnia kobieta z Londynu zostali aresztowani jako podejrzani o rozprowadzanie narkotyków klasy A. Oficerowie odzyskali około £1,500.
Pięć osób przebywa w areszcie.
Tydzień Bezpieczniejszego Southampton, 23- 27 sierpnia
Southampton’s Safe City Partnership przeprowadzi Tydzień Bezpieczniejszego Southampton (Safer Southampton Week), w trakcie którego wszyscy partnerzy spotkają się podczas rożnych imprez w mieście, mających na celu podniesienie świadomości mieszkańców na temat bezpieczeństwa.
Tydzień Bezpieczniejszego Southampton ( 23 – 27 sierpnia) wspomoże istniejącą już kampanię dotyczącą bezpieczeństwa na ulicach, w domach, w rodzinie, w sąsiedztwie i w trakcie picia.
Dotacje dostępne dla grup ochotniczych
Rada Miasta Southampton chce wspierać lokalne grupy ochotnicze i służby społeczne. Jednym ze sposobów na pomoc jest przyznawanie dotacji wolontariatom, które spełniają określone kryteria. Apel do kobiet po napadzie na tle seksualnym w Portsmouth
Policja prowadząca dochodzenie w sprawie napadu na tle seksualnym w Portsmouth, prosi o zgłaszanie się kobiet, które narażone były na takie same zdarzenia.
Ofiara, 24-letnia kobieta z Portsmouth, spędziła piątkowy wieczór, 13 sierpnia, ze znajomymi w barze Fuzzy Duck na Guildhall Walk. Około godz.23.00 sama opuściła lokal i szła w kierunku baru kanapkowego Subway na Winston Churchill Avenue. Na zewnątrz lokalu kobieta spotkała mężczyznę, który zaoferował, że odprowadzi ją do domu. Kobieta przyjęła propozycję.
Razem poszli w kierunku Horatia House na Meriden Road, gdzie mężczyzna zgwałcił ją na klatce schodowej bloku mieszkalnego. Gdy wyszedł, poszkodowana poszła do pobliskiego domu znajomej, aby skontaktować się z policją. 21-letni mężczyzna z Portsmouth został później aresztowany jako podejrzany o gwałt i zwolniony za kaucją do 19 października, na czas dalszego śledztwa.
Detektyw Inspektor Heidi Oliver, nadzorująca Crystal Unit (oddział policji do przestępstw na tle seksualnym w Portsmouth) powiedziała: ‘W ramach śledztwa, chciałabym aby zgłosiły się do nas kobiety, które w podobny sposób zostały zaczepione przez mężczyznę, który próbował je napaść tamtej lub innej nocy. Takie zdarzenie mogło wam się wtedy nie wydawać aż tak groźne, ale wszystkie tego typu zdarzenia traktujemy bardzo poważnie. Twoje informacje mogą pomoc nam w postawieniu przestępcy przed sądem.’

Deszcz pieniędzy!
Po napadzie rabunkowym na Barclays Bank na Jewry Street, do którego doszło we wtorek 17 sierpnia około godz.10.20, policja prosi mieszkańców o pomoc w odzyskaniu dużej ilości pieniędzy, które zostały wyrzucone na ulicę tuż po incydencie.
Detektyw Inspektor Andy Symes powiedział: ‘Mężczyzna wszedł do banku i zmusił pracowników do oddania około £1600. Twierdził, że jest uzbrojony, ale po jego aresztowaniu okazało się ,że nie miał przy sobie broni. Mężczyzna opuścił bank i niedługo potem wyrzucił pieniądze na ulicę z przyczyn nam jeszcze nieznanych.
Prosimy wszystkie osoby, które znalazły pieniądze na Jewry Street lub pobliskich ulicach, o przyniesienie pieniędzy na najbliższy komisariat policji, gdyż są one dowodem w naszym śledztwie.
Chcielibyśmy podziękować osobom, które już się do nas zgłosiły i oddały znalezione pieniądze.
Ze zrozumiałych powodów wydarzenie to było przykre dla pracowników banku, ale na szczęście takie incydenty są bardzo rzadkie, a w tym przypadku mężczyzna został szybko aresztowany i nikt nie został ranny.
Dane statystyczne z dróg
Najnowsze dane pokazują, że w minionym roku na ulicach Southampton zostało rannych prawie 800 osób.
Większość obrażeń odnieśli kierowcy pojazdów w wypadkach wynikających z dekoncentracji lub nie zwracania odpowiedniej uwagi na jezdnię lub innych użytkowników drogi. Spośród tych 780 ofiar odnotowanych przez Policje Okręgową w Hampshire, 105 osób doznało obrażeń śmiertelnych lub ciężkich.

Operation Coffee – five arrested in police drugs operation in Portsmouth
Thousands of pounds of class A drugs were seized and five people arrested in a police operation in Portsmouth on Wednesday.
At around 11.30pm, Wednesday, August 18, officers from Portsmouth’s Drugs Investigation team executed a search warrant at an address on Magdala Road, Cosham.
At the address, police seized heroin and crack cocaine with an estimated value of approximately £3,500. Three people were arrested:
· Two Portsmouth men, 31 and 29, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs
· A 17-year-old London woman possession with intent to supply a controlled drug
As part of the same operation, and at roughly the same time, officers from the Targeted Patrol team stop-checked a car on the northbound A3 at Horndean.
A 28-year-old man from Essex and a 27-year-old woman from London were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Officers recovered approximately £1,500 in cash.
All five people are in custody.
Safer Southampton Week, 23 - 27 August
Southampton’s Safe City Partnership is launching Safer Southampton Week, which sees all partners coming together at events around the city, raising awareness about staying safe.
Safer Southampton Week (August 23 -27) will reinforce the partnership’s ongoing campaigns around safer roads, homes, families, drinking and neighbourhoods.
Grants for voluntary groups
Southampton City Council is keen to support the local voluntary and community sector. One of the ways we do this is by awarding grants to voluntary organisations and groups that meet our priorities and criteria. Appeal to women following sexual assault in Portsmouth
Police investigating a sexual assault in Portsmouth would like to hear from women who may have suffered a similar experience.
The victim, a 24-year-old Portsmouth woman, had spent the evening of Friday, August 13, with friends at the Fuzzy Duck bar on Guildhall Walk. She left the bar alone at around 11pm and walked towards the Subway sandwich shop on Winston Churchill Avenue. Outside she met a man who offered to walk her home and she accepted.
They walked towards Horatia House on Meriden Road where he sexually assaulted her in the stairwell of the block of flats. After he had gone, she went to a friend’s house nearby to contact the police. A 21-year-old Portsmouth man was later arrested on suspicion of rape and bailed until October 19 pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Heidi Oliver is head of the Crystal Unit (the police’s dedicated sexual assault team in Portsmouth). She said: “As part of our investigation, I’d like to hear from any women who may have been approached by a man under similar circumstances who may have tried to assault them either that night or any other.
“It might be that you didn’t think anything of it at the time, or didn’t think it was severe enough, but we take all reports of this nature extremely seriously. Your information could help us bring to justice whoever did this.”

It’s raining cash!
Following a robbery at Barclays Bank in Jewry Street on Tuesday, August 17 at approximately 10.20am, police are appealing for the public’s help in recovering a quantity of cash that was thrown into the street just after the incident occurred.
Detective Inspector Andy Symes said: “A man entered the bank and threatened staff into giving him approximately £1600 in cash. He claimed he was armed, but a subsequent search after arrest proved that he had no weapon on him. The man left the bank, and a short time later threw the money into the street for reasons we have yet to establish.
“We would ask that any members of the public who have found money in Jewry Street - or surrounding streets – to please hand the money into their nearest police station, as this money is evidence in our investigation.
“We would like to thank the members of the public who have already come forward and handed in money they have found to us.
“This was understandably upsetting for the people in the bank at the time, but this kind of incident is thankfully very rare, and in this case a man was arrested quickly and nobody was harmed.”
Road statistics
Nearly 800 people were injured on Southampton roads in the past year, latest figures have revealed.
Most of the injuries were to car drivers caused by distractions and not paying attention to the road or other road users. Of these 780 casualties recorded by Hampshire Constabulary, 105 sustained were fatal or serious injuries.

Saint fans are still reeling from the news that owner Markus Liebherr died suddenly last week. Their game on Saturday was called off as a mark of respect. This week they are at home to Leyton orient.
Pompey travel to Preston this week after their 1-1 draw with Reading last Saturday while the Cherries travel to Tranmere after their excellent 5-1 win against Peterborough on Saturday.
